Baylor will retain Dave Aranda for the 2024 season, athletic director Mack Rhoades told ESPN's Adam Rittenberg.

It will be Aranda's fifth year as head coach. Through his four seasons as bench boss, he's led Baylor to a 23-25 record.

The Bears finished with a 3-9 record this past campaign after losing their final five games. Baylor dropped its season finale to West Virginia to cap an underwhelming effort.

Aranda, 47, is just two years removed from winning a Big 12 title in 2021. Baylor has posted a 9-16 record in the following two seasons.

There will likely be significant changes around Aranda both on and off the field as the school is also seeking to improve its NIL investment, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Jeff Grimes isn't expected to return to his role as offensive coordinator. Aranda is expected to call defensive plays in 2023, Rittenberg reports.

Baylor finished tied with BYU for last place in the Big 12 with an average of 23.1 points per game and surrendered the most points per game (33.3) in the conference.
