Four high school students have been identified as suspects in the theft of jewelry and other items from Colorado's locker room during a game against UCLA at the Rose Bowl last month.
The Pasadena Police Department announced that a search targeting students from Beaumont High School in Beaumont, California, turned up items that were reported stolen by Colorado football players, according to Steve Henson of the Los Angeles Times.
At least three Buffaloes players had jewelry stolen from their lockers, while others had headphones and cash taken from them, Henson reports.
Jason Brown, host of "The Coach JB Show with Big Smitty" podcast, claimed during a recent episode that at least two of the suspects were on the Beaumont High School football team and were UCLA recruits. Brown said the players were removed from Beaumont's bus by the police as the team was en route to a playoff game.
UCLA spokesperson Liza David told Henson that none of the four suspects were on an official NCAA recruiting visit when they attended the Oct. 28 game.
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders called on the NCAA to get involved after news of the thefts broke, saying it was a "travesty" his players were robbed during a game, and he hoped they would be reimbursed for the stolen items.
Pasadena spokesperson Lisa Derderian said no arrests have been made in the case, and the investigation is ongoing.
