Michigan has sent documents to the Big Ten Conference that the school believes prove that three teams were engaged in communications about sharing the Wolverines' signals in 2022, sources told ESPN's Adam Rittenberg and Tom VanHaaren.

Ohio State, Rutgers, and Purdue are the three conference teams Michigan referred to, Rittenberg and VanHaaren report.

Purdue, which faced Michigan in the 2022 Big Ten Championship game, reportedly received the Wolverines' offensive signals from Ohio State and its defensive signs from Rutgers. The Boilermakers suffered a 43-22 loss to Michigan in the conference title game.

The Big Ten forwarded any information it had to the NCAA, though it's unclear if the signal-sharing between the three teams violated the Big Ten's sportsmanship policy or any of the league's other regulations. NCAA rules don't prohibit in-game signal stealing but schools are prohibited from off-campus scouting in advance of games.

The NCAA, meanwhile, is currently investigating Michigan for illegal off-campus recruiting violations and sign-stealing. Former team analyst Connor Stalions resigned from his position last week after initially being suspended with pay.

Stalions allegedly bought tickets to 30 games that include Big Ten and out-of-conference opponents.

The Wolverines received a notice of disciplinary action required by the league's sportsmanship policy on Monday. Officials from the school have until Wednesday to respond to the Big Ten, at which time discipline could be imposed. A suspension for head coach Jim Harbaugh is very likely, sources told Rittenberg and VanHaaren.
