Alabama benched quarterback Jalen Milroe in favor of Tyler Buchner as the starter for Saturday's game against USF.
Milroe struggled in the Crimson Tide's shock loss to Texas last weekend. While he threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns, he also had two interceptions, completed just 51.9% of his passes, and was sacked five times.
Buchner took the majority of first-team reps in practice this week. He played for first-year Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy Rees while both were at Notre Dame last season and opened the 2022 campaign as the Irish's starting quarterback before getting hurt in the second game.
With Alabama up big in the season-opening win against Middle Tennessee, Buchner came in and completed three passes for 27 yards and ran for one touchdown.
