Florida State extends Norvell through 2029 season
Florida State head coach Mike Norvell agreed to terms on a multi-year extension that runs through the 2029 season, the school announced Wednesday.
Norvell, 41, will receive a significant bump in salary with an annual average of $8.05 million, up from the $4.5 million he earned last season.
"Coach Norvell has re-established a culture that the entire Seminole Family can appreciate," athletic director Michael Alford said in a statement. "We are proud of the way Coach Norvell, his staff, and his team represent Florida State University on and off the field."
Norvell said, "I'm grateful for the trust our administration continues to place in me to lead the Florida State football program."
The Seminoles have gradually improved from their 3-6 mark in Norvell's first season. Florida State then went 5-7 before making a leap to 10-3 in 2022 that was capped off by a Cheez-It Bowl win over Oklahoma.
Novell joined the Seminoles following a four-year career at Memphis. He established a 38-16 mark while leading the Tigers from 2016-19.
