2023 top-ranked safety Caleb Downs commits to Alabama

Four-star safety Caleb Downs committed to Alabama's 2023 class Wednesday.
Downs is the top-ranked safety and No. 16 overall recruit on ESPN 300.
The Hoschton, Georgia, native chose Alabama over several schools, including Ohio State, Georgia, and Notre Dame.
Downs' commitment gives the Crimson Tide the top three recruits from Georgia in 2023, along with four-star running back Justice Haynes and four-star quarterback Dylan Lonergan.
Downs is the second blue-chip recruit to join Alabama in as many days. The Crimson Tide also bolstered their secondary Tuesday, adding highly touted cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe to their Class of 2024.
