Anthony Richardson left his future at Florida up in the air amid speculation he could transfer if Emory Jones continues to start at quarterback ahead of him.

"I can't really speak on that," Richardson said Saturday after Florida's 49-42 loss to LSU, according to Nick de la Torre of Rivals. "Time is the only thing that tells. Right now, I'm a Gator."

The comments didn't sit well with Gators fans, and Richardson downplayed his remarks hours later on social media.

Richardson came off the bench to score four touchdowns against the Tigers, dragging the Gators back from a 15-point deficit to give them a chance on the road. The redshirt freshman has outshined Jones at every opportunity this season, but head coach Dan Mullen has repeatedly favored the more experienced Jones.

"He did a really good job when he was in there," Mullen said of Richardson. "He got hot so we stuck with him because he was kind of hot and had some momentum there offensively."

Despite Richardson's spark, Florida still faltered for the third time in five weeks. Richardson threw two interceptions in the loss, including one late in the fourth quarter that halted the comeback.

Jones also committed two picks against LSU, raising his total to nine through seven games.

Mullen didn't commit to a quarterback for when the Gators return from their bye but said he'll evaluate potential changes over the week off.

Florida return to action Oct. 30 versus No. 1 Georgia.
