Georgia quarterback JT Daniels could be held out of Saturday's game against UAB with an upper-body injury, according to The Athletic's Seth Emerson.

Redshirt freshman Carson Beck will likely get the start if Daniels is out after splitting first-team reps during Wednesday's practice.

The Bulldogs continue to prep for their home opener after a significant win over Clemson last weekend. Daniels completed 20 of his 30 pass attempts for 135 yards while throwing an interception in the victory.

Daniels is 5-0 as a starter at Georgia since transferring from USC prior to the 2020 season. He passed for 1,366 yards, 10 touchdowns, and three interceptions last season.

Regardless of who lines up under center, the team has faith that either Beck or Daniels will be able to handle the situation.

"JT and Carson both take reps every week and every day," receiver Ladd McConkey said. "So we’re confident in both of them. Both of them (throw) good balls, have good arm strength. So we’re confident in either way that goes.”

Coach Kirby Smart does have the option of leaning on senior passer Stetson Bennett, who started five games last season and led Georgia to a 3-2 record.
