Florida Atlantic is adding former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward to its coaching staff, sources told ESPN's Adam Rittenberg.

Ward, who has spent the last two seasons on the New York Jets staff as an offensive assistant, is expected to work with Florida Atlantic receivers coach Joey Thomas.

The ex-Steelers player brings an abundance of on-field experience to the Owls' coaching staff. Ward played his entire 14-year career in Pittsburgh, winning two Super Bowls and earning four Pro Bowl nods. His 1,000 receptions and 12,083 receiving yards rank first in team history.

Ward played for Georgia before being selected by the Steelers in the 1998 NFL Draft. He was named to the All-SEC team twice, taking first-team honors in 1997 and being selected to the second team in 1996.

The 45-year-old retired from the NFL after the 2011 season. He began his coaching career as an intern with the Steelers in 2017 before joining the Jets two years later.
