Alabama ended its 2020 season with a national championship and numerous broken records, but quarterback Mac Jones wants to claim one more honor: recognition as the greatest team of all time.

"I think we're the best team to ever play. There's no team that will ever play an SEC schedule like that again," Jones said following the Crimson Tide's title-clinching victory over Ohio State, according to Yahoo Sports' Pete Thamel.

Alabama's 52-24 rout of the Buckeyes wasn't the only one-sided affair en route to a perfect 13-0 campaign. Playing an All-SEC schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Crimson Tide steamrolled the competition with only one game being decided by less than two scores.

With a roster loaded with future NFL talent - Jones included - Alabama also became the first team in the College Football Playoff era to be ranked No. 1 from start to finish.

Jones ended the year with 41 touchdown passes to just four interceptions. The junior signal-caller sliced through Ohio State's secondary Monday night, throwing for 464 yards and five scores.

His favorite target, wide receiver DeVonta Smith, also capped one of the most incredible seasons in recent memory against the Buckeyes. Smith, fresh off his Heisman victory, set a new CFP title game record in receptions (12) while falling just 7 yards shy of beating Ja'Marr Chase's mark for receiving yards (221). The Alabama wideout did all his damage in just over two quarters, as an injury sidelined him from the remainder of the contest.

The Crimson Tide's bid for recognition as the best team ever doesn't end there, as the roster was filled out by the likes of running back Najee Harris, receiver Jaylen Waddle, offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood, and cornerback Patrick Surtain II.

Head coach Nick Saban earned his record-breaking seventh national championship, surpassing former Alabama great Paul "Bear" Bryant.
