Ohio State cornerback Shaun Wade isn't shaking in his boots ahead of a showdown with Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith.

Wade made it clear he's up for the challenge of covering the Heisman winner in the national championship game.

"You already know who I want to go up against," Wade said, according to Zach Braziller of the New York Post.

The defensive back knows his hands will surely be full when trying to stop Smith, a task that's seemed too difficult for any secondary this season.

"DeVonta is a very great player, quick and shifty and fast. You see it on his highlights. He can do everything in the book as a receiver, and (I’m) just really looking for that matchup at the end of the day," Wade added.

Smith, who became the first receiver to win the Heisman since 1991, has been on an almost unstoppable run this season. He's recorded 1,641 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns this campaign, including a three-score performance in the Rose Bowl.

Ohio State will also need to deal with Mac Jones, Najee Harris, and potentially Jaylen Waddle. A top receiver, Waddle was once thought to be lost for the season due to an ankle injury, but he returned to practice earlier this week and could play in the title game.

The Buckeyes are aiming to end Alabama's reign of dominance. Wade will play a key part after nabbing two interceptions in 2020, giving him six over his career.
