Michigan athletic officials are unsure about the team's ability to travel for its game against Ohio State on Dec. 12 amid its COVID-19 outbreak, Chris Thomas and David Jesse of the Detroit Free Press report.

The Wolverines recently paused football activities until at least Monday and were forced to cancel Saturday's game against Maryland.

Michigan announced Friday that 14 student-athletes and one staff member tested positive since its contest versus Penn State on Nov. 28.

The game between Ohio State and Michigan is one of the most anticipated matchups in college football every season, but it carries extra implications for the Buckeyes this year.

Ohio State is 4-0 and needs to play the two games remaining on its schedule - against Michigan State and Michigan - to be eligible for the Big Ten championship game, which is scheduled for Dec. 19.

The Buckeyes already had two games canceled due to COVID-19 concerns, including last week's matchup versus Illinois.

Ohio State is ranked fourth on the College Football Playoff Top 25, and though there's no minimum number of games required to make the playoffs, the team will likely need to win the Big Ten to keep a spot in the top four.
