LSU head coach Ed Orgeron announced his team could be without some starters Saturday against Alabama due to multiple players being placed in quarantine.
"Can't go into detail," Orgeron said, according to Brooks Kubena of The Advocate. "It's a very fluid situation. I can tell you that we do have players that got COVID and we do have some players that are quarantined. I can't tell you the numbers. I'm going to let the doctors take care of all that. We're focused on playing Alabama Saturday night."
Orgeron says he was informed of the situation last Tuesday or Wednesday, Kubena adds. The Tigers are coming off a bye week.
Despite Orgeron's optimism that the game against Alabama can go ahead, the matchup remains in jeopardy, reports The Athletic's Brody Miller, who adds the SEC will make a decision within the next 24 hours.
Myles Brennan has already been ruled out due to an abdominal injury that's kept him out of the last two games, according to Kubena. Orgeron hasn't ruled out the possibility of the quarterback being shut down for the remainder of the season. TJ Finley, who's started in Brennan's place, will battle fellow freshman Max Johnson for the starting gig against the Crimson Tide, should it be played.
