Nick Saban, Alabama AD test positive for COVID-19
Alabama announced Wednesday that head coach Nick Saban and athletic director Greg Byrne tested positive for COVID-19.
"Both (Saban and Byrne) immediately left the facility and went to their homes to self-isolate after receiving that information," the Crimson Tide said in a statement.
Saban said he currently has no virus symptoms. Offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian will oversee preparations ahead of the team's high-profile matchup with Georgia on Saturday, while "I work from home," the coach added.
Saban noted he's unsure if he'll be in communication with his staff during Saturday's game.
Alabama said the positive tests are limited to Saban and Bryne at this point.
"We've been diligent about mask wearing and social distancing from the start and want to continue to encourage you all to take the necessary precautions to help stop the spread of this virus for yourself and those around you," Byrne said in a statement.
The Crimson Tide are off to a 3-0 start, beating Ole Miss 63-48 last week.
