It's time to ring in 2020 with some dubs.

The New Year's Eve bowl slate plays second fiddle to one on Jan. 1 in terms of aesthetics and watchability, but there are still five games to wager on, giving us a chance to close out the year on a high note.

Here's what you need to know about each one from a betting perspective.

Belk Bowl - Virginia Tech vs. Kentucky

Line: Virginia Tech -2.5, 47.5

If you're in the market to bet teams in the postseason who can run the ball effectively, look no further than Kentucky. The Wildcats posted the sixth-most rushing yards per game in 2019 and averaged north of 400 over their final three. In terms of the matchup, SP+ is a bit higher on the Wildcats, pegging them four spots ahead of Virginia Tech. Count me in as someone who isn't opposed to betting an SEC team getting points against an ACC opponent.

Sun Bowl - Arizona State vs. Florida State

Line: Arizona State -4.5, 54.5

There's a lot to unpack when handicapping this game. Arizona State shipped out its coordinators following the regular season, while Florida State has essentially a brand-new coaching staff.

If there's one guarantee in this game, it's that Sun Devils head coach Herm Edwards will have his fingerprints on the offensive game plan. And do you know what that means? Run, run, run. This contest has the upside to be a shootout, but don't be surprised if it's anything but. I like the under in this spot.

Liberty Bowl - Navy vs. Kansas State

Line: Navy -2.5, 52

I'm all for taking the overs in bowl season when service academies are involved; they normally score plenty despite opposing defenses having more time to prepare. Navy, in particular, is a good look, but I don't want to touch the side. You're better off grabbing some Midshipmen team total over, as they'll match up against the worst red-zone defense in the country.

Arizona Bowl - Wyoming vs. Georgia

Line: Wyoming -7, 49

Someone decided that this was a good New Year's Eve bowl game.

This was one of the games that I recommended laying off. Wyoming's quarterback situation is in flux and Georgia State's signal-caller has been playing on a torn ACL. However, Wyoming is a top-25 rush offense and is even better at defending it. It's a square play, but the Cowboys -7 would be my look.

Alamo Bowl - Utah vs. Texas

Line: Utah -7, 55

Ah, yes, the are-they-actually-good bowl. Texas was not, in fact, back; Utah was a CFP sleeper until it forgot how to play football in the PAC-12 title game.

Utes head coach Kyle Whittingham is a savant in bowl season, but can I really pass up the opportunity to bet Tom Herman as a 'dog? Texas will keep it within the number and the game will go comfortably over the total of 55.
