Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney is confident quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be able to return from the injury he suffered last week to start a second consecutive game.

"I definitely expect him to play (against Wake Forest) and see no reason why he wouldn't," Swinney said Tuesday, according to ESPN's David M. Hale.

Lawrence, a freshman, was removed from his first career start against Syracuse last week after sustaining an apparent head injury and was placed in the concussion protocol. Swinney said the issue was more the result of neck pain, and the young quarterback was feeling better by Sunday.

"He got the crap knocked out of him," Swinney said.

Swinney added that Lawrence wanted to re-enter Saturday's game, according to Marty Smith of ESPN.

Lawrence had gone 10-for-15 for 93 yards before he exited with around five minutes left in the first half.
