Ohio State's loss is Florida's gain once again as freshman wide receiver Trevon Grimes announced Friday that he's transferring to the Gators, just days after head coach Dan Mullen flipped highly touted quarterback recruit Emory Jones from the Buckeyes.
"I just felt like (Florida) fit for me. It's close to home. Of course, being in my situation that I'm in right now, I have to be close to home," Grimes told David Furones of The Sun Sentinel.
Grimes took a leave from the Buckeyes after head coach Urban Meyer confirmed that he needed to take care of "family health issues." Grimes hails from Fort Lauderdale.
A highly touted member of the 2017 recruiting class, Grimes was rated the No. 35 player on the ESPN 300 and the No. 5 wideout. He recorded just three catches for 20 yards over two games before leaving the Buckeyes.
