Report: Florida reaches agreement with Dan Mullen for HC job
It appears Dan Mullen will be the next head coach at Florida, as sources told college football insider Brett McMurphy the school has reached an agreement with the current Mississippi State frontman.
It was reported earlier in the day that Florida had zeroed in on Mullen after Chip Kelly took the UCLA position.
Mullen is certainly no stranger to the Gators, as he was Urban Meyer's offensive coordinator from 2005-08, winning two national championships during that time. He then went to Mississippi State, where he's been one of the most successful coaches in program history, going 69-46 across nine seasons.
Mullen also has familiarity with Florida's current athletic director, Scott Stricklin, as the pair previously worked together at Mississippi State.
Gators fans will likely be excited about Mullen's past success in grooming quarterbacks, as the team has struggled mightily at the position since Tim Tebow graduated. Mullen coached NFL passers Alex Smith, Dak Prescott, and Tebow during their respective college careers.
