Houston's Oliver: Less yelling, more coaching with Herman gone

Tom Herman may be gone, but Ed Oliver - Houston's freshman phenom from the 2016 season - is back, and offered a fairly blunt assessment of what's different between the Herman-led Cougars of the fall, and the Major Applewhite-led team this spring.

"A lot less yelling, and a lot more coaching," Oliver said to Joseph Duarte of The Houston Chronicle.

Herman - now the coach at Texas - didn't please his former fan base too much earlier this week when he told reporters that defensive coordinator Todd Orlando "made chicken salad out of some lesser parts" last season. It appears Oliver, who was voted a USA Today All-American, wasn't thrilled with the comments, either.

The nation's fourth-ranked recruit in 2016 was a beast in his first season with the Cougars, posting an incredible 19.5 tackles for loss with five sacks and three forced fumbles.

It's highly unlikely that Herman was referring to Oliver with his comments, but it seems the star defensive tackle is riled up anyway.
