College fans might have heard this one before: Lane Kiffin and Nick Saban don't appear to be on the same page.
Earlier on Tuesday, Kiffin told ESPN that Alabama was looking into whether they were allowed to have him on the sidelines or in the coaches' booth for next week's CFP title game against Clemson.
It took only a couple hours before Saban shot down those comments in his press availability.
"That's not possible from a legal standpoint for him to do those things, so that's not something we're interested in pursuing," Saban told ESPN's Edward Aschoff.
Kiffin - who was introduced as Florida Atlantic's head coach a couple of weeks ago - and Saban mutually decided that the offensive coordinator would leave the program after the Peach Bowl win over Washington, despite an earlier agreement that he would stay on through the national championship game.
After the Alabama offense struggled to move the ball against the Huskies, a change was made, and Kiffin is being replaced by Steve Sarkisian as the Crimson Tide offensive coordinator.
Saban's comments can now officially put a bow on the Kiffin-era at Alabama.
