Report: Tennessee loses OC Mike DeBord to Indiana
Tennessee will have a new man running its offense next season, as coordinator Mike Debord is leaving the program to take the same role at Indiana, a source told ESPN's Brett McMurphy.
Debord's departure is a big loss for Butch Jones and the Volunteers, as the 2016 Tennessee offense was the highest-scoring in school history, putting up 463 total points and 63 touchdowns.
The move to the Big Ten program will certainly come with some challenges, as the Hoosiers have significantly less weapons on offense than Tennessee. The Volunteers ranked 24th in the nation in scoring last season, averaging 36.4 points per game, while Indiana was 88th in the same category with 25.8 points per contest.
According to Jason Fraychineaud of Saturday Down South, former Oregon coach Mark Helfrich is rumored to be a candidate to replace DeBoard as offensive coordinator at Tennessee.
