Thursday's game between Memphis and Temple was nearly 20 years in the making.
With just under seven minutes to go the fourth quarter, wide receiver Tony Pollard received a kickoff at the Tigers' six-yard line and proceeded to return the first kickoff for a touchdown by a Memphis player since 1996.
In an almost ridiculous time span, Kevin Cobb was the last Memphis player to return a kickoff for a touchdown prior to Pollard, and he did so against a familiar Tennessee quarterback in the Liberty Bowl.
Among the great moments in the Tigers' upset of the Volunteers, the kick return is at the 1:25 mark:
In the days of instant replay, it's interesting to think if Cobb had been ruled down after being hit, the Tigers may have had even more time tacked onto their streak.
