Baylor dismisses suspended RB Devin Chafin
Suspended Baylor running back Devin Chafin has been dismissed from the program, the school confirmed to Chuck Carlton of the Dallas Morning News.
Chafin was arrested in Oklahoma in March for allegedly trying to bring back marijuana from a trip to Colorado. He was suspended by the football program immediately following that arrest.
The junior standout was also mentioned in a recent ESPN Outside the Lines report, which claimed he allegedly assaulted a woman multiple times.
Chafin rushed for 583 yards and nine touchdowns in 10 games during the 2015 season. He was likely to be behind Shock Linwood and Johnny Jefferson on the depth chart for the upcoming season, had he remained with the program.
His departure is the latest in a tumultuous period for Baylor, which dismissed coach Art Briles last week. Following that decision, a number of recruits have decommitted from the program, and Chafin's departure signals even more roster turnover for new coach Jim Grobe.
