Stroman: I can't imagine Rocker's emotions after failed Mets deal
Marcus Stroman is sympathetic toward Kumar Rocker after the 10th overall pick from the 2021 MLB Draft couldn't land a deal with the New York Mets.
"I truly feel for Kumar Rocker," the Mets right-hander wrote Monday on Twitter. "Can't imagine the feelings and emotions he's dealing with. I pray he and his family get through these times and come out stronger in the end."
Rocker and the Mets failed to reach a deal after the team reportedly expressed concerns about the pitcher's elbow following a physical. However, the 21-year-old's agent, Scott Boras, said his client is healthy and doesn't require any medical attention.
The former Vanderbilt star can now turn professional and re-enter the draft in 2022. He reportedly doesn't plan to play NCAA baseball for his senior year.
