Report: Cincinnati grants Mick Cronin permission to speak with UNLV
Cincinnati has granted Mick Cronin permission to speak with UNLV about their head coaching vacancy, a source told Tom Groeschen of The Cincinnati Enquirer.
Cronin has rebuffed overtures from teams like North Carolina State, Virginia Tech, and Nebraska as recently as 2014, but the 44-year-old could make the move to Vegas if they can match his $2.2 million per year deal, according to multiple reports.
Earlier Monday, Cincinnati president Santa J. Ono made it seem unlikely Cronin would be leaving, tweeting: "Great conversation with Mick Cronin today. Made it clear he is a key member of our team here at UC."
Now, Cronin is said to be seriously considering a move to the Runnin' Rebels.
In 10 seasons with the Bearcats, Cronin has tallied a 207-129 overall record and gone to six straight NCAA tournaments.
