Shades of Chris Webber in the 1993 NCAA tournament, New Mexico didn't have a timeout to call.
With less than one second remaining, after Rice gave New Mexico all it could handle and the game knotted 89-89, Lobos forward Tim Williams signaled timeout during a loose-ball scramble.
The problem was, his team didn't have any left.
The timeout New Mexico didn't have and didn't mean to call that cost it the game vs. Rice. Technical foul. #mwbb pic.twitter.com/lGev4zKVpu

Officials instead handed New Mexico a technical foul, and Rice a free throw, with 0.1 seconds left on the clock. Egor Koulechov nailed it, and the Owls won 90-89.
