PHOTO: Dean Smith willed $200 to each of his former lettermen for 'dinner out'
Dean Smith is still taking care of his players.
The former North Carolina head coach, who passed away Feb. 7 at the age of 83, directed his trust to issue each of his former Tar Heels lettermen a $200 check in his will, Tim Breedlove of Miller McNeish & Breedlove, PA confirmed to theScore.
The letter accompanying each check has a message from Smith: "Enjoy a dinner out, compliments of Coach Dean Smith."

According to Breedlove, approximately 180 checks were issued, which would mean that the trust gifted $36,000.
Serge Zwikker, former North Carolina center from 1993-97, had an understandbly emotional reactions after receiving the check. He told ESPN's Darren Rovell that he teared up and will never cash it.
