You couldn't come up with a more crushing manner of defeat for Yale on Saturday.
After a free throw with just under four seconds to play seemingly sealed a Bulldogs victory over Vermont, Catamounts guard Aaron Deloney quickly traversed the length of the court for a last-gasp layup to make it a three-point game with only 0.6 seconds left.
On the ensuing inbound, however, Yale guard August Mahoney committed an offensive foul before getting the ball. That turned it back over to Vermont for a final possession, during which guard TJ Long banked in a tying three at the buzzer while also getting fouled, setting the stage for a game-winning free throw with virtually no time left.
