Report: Former Florida star Johnson looking for new team 2 years after collapse

Former Florida forward Keyontae Johnson is looking to join a new college basketball program nearly two years after a scary collapse left him sidelined indefinitely, sources told Stadium's Jeff Goodman.

Johnson will visit Kansas State and Western Kentucky, Goodman adds. USC is also reportedly recruiting him.

The former All-SEC member collapsed during a game against Florida State on Dec. 12, 2020 - the fourth contest of his junior season. He was immediately rushed to a local hospital in critical but stable condition and remained in a medically induced coma for three days.

Doctors never cleared Johnson to rejoin the Gators on the floor. However, he served as an honorary assistant with the team and was on the court momentarily during the opening tipoff of his senior night at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

According to Goodman, Johnson will forfeit his $5-million insurance policy if he plays a particular number of games next season.

"Keyontae just wants to play again," a source told Goodman. "He feels 100% and just wants to get back on the court."

For his college career, the 6-foot-5 wing has averaged 11 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 52% from the floor and 38% from deep in 72 contests.
