Baylor is already facing an uphill battle in its quest to defend its national championship.

Four-star prospect Langston Love is out for the 2021-22 campaign after sustaining a torn ACL during Saturday's private scrimmage against Texas, Bears head coach Scott Drew announced Monday. Love's expected to make a full recovery by next season.

"Langston has been a great addition to our program and we were really excited about his potential to contribute on the court this season," Drew said in a statement.

"While we're disappointed he won't have that opportunity, he's a terrific teammate who will do whatever he can to help us from the sidelines this year. Langston has a great support system, and we know he'll work hard and come back stronger than ever."

The 6-foot-5 guard was part of the highest-ranked recruiting class in program history. Love was the No. 28 overall prospect on the ESPN 100 for 2021 and Baylor's highest-ranked recruit in nine years.

Love starred at Montverde Academy alongside Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham, this year's No. 1 overall draft pick.
