Oral Roberts star Max Abmas declared for the NBA draft on Sunday but will retain his college eligibility throughout the process, he told ESPN's Jonathan Givony.
"My plan is to enter the draft and get as much feedback as I can," Abmas said. "I'm hoping to work my way into the first round or get some type of guaranteed contract to help me decide whether to stay in."
Abmas broke onto the national scene with a standout performance at this year's NCAA Tournament. He averaged 26.7 points and shot 40% from deep en route to leading the 15th-seeded Golden Eagles to the Sweet 16.
The 6-foot-1 guard was the nation's leading scorer in 2020-21, registering 24.6 points per contest over 28 appearances. He also ranked second in the NCAA in 3-point field goals (101) and 11th in free throws made (138).
Abmas is ESPN's 30th-ranked prospect in the 2021 draft class.
