NCAA suggests at least 3 COVID-19 tests per week for teams, officials
The NCAA released its health and safety guidelines for the 2020-21 college basketball season Friday, suggesting that teams and officials be tested for COVID-19 at least three times per week throughout the upcoming campaign.
"This basketball resocialization guidance is based on the best information available in a rapidly changing COVID-19 environment," NCAA president Mark Emmert said in a statement. "It is predicated on the assumption that rapid testing capabilities will be readily available later this year. We will constantly assess emerging information as we prepare for the start of the basketball season at the end of November."
The guidelines, created in partnership with the NCAA's medical advisory group, also address travel and access to the court and bench areas.
The 2020-21 collegiate campaign is set to tip off Nov. 25.
