Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis, Michigan, and North Carolina were reportedly among the several programs that presented an offer to the 6-foot-8 prospect.
Banchero is the highest-ranked 2021 prospect to commit to date. The big man out of O'Dea High School in Seattle joins fellow five-star forward A.J. Griffin among the Blue Devil's 2021 recruits thus far. Griffin announced his commitment in November.
Banchero was named Washington's Gatorade Player of the Year in March after averaging 22.6 points, 11 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.6 blocks per contest this past season and pushing his school to the Class 3A state championship game.
