Wake Forest center Olivier Sarr is entering the transfer portal, he told ESPN's Jeff Borzello on Friday.
Though he hasn't ruled out a return to the Demon Deacons, Sarr specifically mentioned the recent firing of former head coach Danny Manning as a factor in his decision to submit his transfer paperwork.
"I want to give Wake Forest a chance and listen to what (new head coach Steve Forbes) has to say," Sarr told Borzello. "I'm entering the transfer portal because I want to listen to all the options. I want to be able to pick my own coach, not have one chosen for me."
Sarr earned third-team All-ACC honors after averaging 13.7 points and 9 rebounds as a junior this past season. He's slated to become one of the most coveted names in the transfer portal.
Wake Forest has gone a combined 35-58 during Sarr's three seasons with the school. The Frenchman is hoping to find more success wherever he plays next.
"Everybody knows there's been some tough years with Wake," Sarr said. "I tried my best individually to improve and work on my game, but really, in the next program, I'm looking for a winning program."
Sarr will need a waiver from the NCAA granting him immediate eligibility in order to play next season.
