Coach K not concerned about Williamson's weight: 'He's graceful'

High-flying freshman sensation Zion Williamson is officially listed at 6-foot-7, 285 pounds ahead of his Duke debut. His large frame would make him the second-heaviest player in the NBA, behind 7-foot-3 giant Boban Marjanovic.

However, Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski isn't concerned about the five-star prospect's weight.

"He's graceful," Krzyzewski said of Williamson, according to Zagsblog's Adam Zagoria. "His lateral movement and speed and anticipation is off the charts. He can drive, he can post up, he understands the game really well. I know that everyone has watched him on YouTube with all the dunking and obviously that's impressive but he's a heck of a basketball player."

Krzyzewski said that over his previous 38 seasons in Durham he's never coached a player like Williamson, whose combination of size and athleticism has turned him into an internet sensation.

"He's a gifted athlete," Krzyzewski said. "We've never had anyone exactly like him, which is OK. He's a gifted athlete, a great kid.

"At that weight or approximately that weight, he moves as fast as anybody, jumps higher than anybody and he's alert. We're not talking about someone who has excess body fat. This is a kid that's in pretty darn good shape and just has a man's mass. It's more mass and strength than any type of excess weight. I'm not concerned about that. He's done really well."

The Blue Devils brought in the top-three freshman recruits, according to ESPN's rankings, which includes Williamson, Canadian phenom R.J. Barrett, and versatile forward Cam Reddish. All three are expected to declare for the 2019 NBA Draft.
