Report: Knicks targeting Malik Monk, Frank Ntilikina in upcoming draft

Help is on the way for the depleted New York Knicks' guard rotation.

The Knicks are targeting French guard Frank Ntilikina and Kentucky guard Malik Monk with their first-round selection in the upcoming 2017 draft, sources told ESPN's Ian Begley.

Ntilikina is a 6-foot-5 guard currently playing at the top level of the French league. The 18-year-old is averaging five points and 1.9 rebounds in limited minutes, but has demonstrated excellent defensive potential and a knack for getting to the rim.

Monk profiles as an undersized shooting guard with elite athleticism and a proficient shooting stroke. He averaged 20 points per game while shooting 39 percent from deep and 50 percent from the field.

Either one of Monk or Ntilikina would represent a huge upgrade over what the Knicks currently have in place, especially for the long haul with Derrick Rose set to be a free agent.
