Nigel Hayes is expanding his legacy during his final year at Wisconsin.
The senior forward clinched a 65-62 victory over defending champion Villanova with a clutch layup Saturday, bullying his way to the basket along the baseline with 12 seconds remaining.
Vitto Brown iced the game with a free throw. Villanova's last-second 3-point attempt fell well short as the Badgers advanced to their fourth consecutive Sweet 16.
Hayes' excellent collegiate career will continue as he stakes his claim as one of the best players in the school's recent history.
