Things got heated during Saturday's D-League game between the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and the Bakersfield Jam.
Former Louisville star Montrezl Harrell, who was selected in the second round of the 2015 draft by the Houston Rockets, was shoved by Derek Cooke Jr., then shoved a referee to the floor while attempting to return the favor.
The National Basketball Referees Association called for Harrell to be suspended for multiple games for "deliberate assault and battery" in a statement released Monday.

"After carefully reviewing videotape and related evidence concerning this incident, we have reached the inescapable conclusion that Harrell committed a deliberate assault and battery against referee (Jason) Goldenberg," said Lee Seham, NBRA general counsel. "Anything less than a multiple-game suspension would constitute a green light for violence against officials."
