The NBA is looking into a D-League incident in which Houston Rockets rookie power forward Montrezl Harrell pushed a referee to the floor.

Harrell, playing in a contest for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Saturday, shoved referee Jason Goldenberg after the official tried to break up a confrontation between Harrell and the Bakersfield Jam's Derek Cooke Jr.
"Harrell committed a deliberate assault and battery against referee Goldenberg," the National Basketball Referees Association said in a statement released Monday. "Anything less than a multiple-game suspension would constitute a green light for violence against officials."
The NBA oversees officiating and discipline in the D-League.
Harrell, the Rockets' second-round pick out of Louisville last year, has played 12 games for Rio Grande Valley, averaging 24.3 points and 9.3 rebounds in almost 40 minutes per contest. He has appeared in 38 games for Houston this season.
