Melo shares LeBron's dream of forming superteam with Wade, Paul
Apparently LeBron James isn't the only one who dreams of getting the whole "brotherhood" together on one team.
James told Bleacher Report's Howard Beck in a story published Wednesday that he's "definitely had thoughts" of playing alongside his tight-knit NBA fraternity of Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Paul, for "at least one, maybe one or two seasons," and that he'd "actually take a pay cut" to make it happen.
Anthony said Wednesday that he's all for the idea, but suggested it would be something that happens a few years down the road, when the foursome is nearer to retirement and ready to relocate together to someplace tropical.
"We still got years in this league," he said, according to Marc Berman and Jonathan Lehman of the New York Post. "Everybody dreams sometimes.
"Everybody has fantasies. We'd all have to take pay cuts. I'd take one. I think at that time we'd want to go someplace warm. Later - (close to) retirement."
For now, it seems, James will continue to bat away controversy and speculation in Cleveland, while Anthony plays out the string on another losing season in New York.
Anthony is in the second year of a five-year deal with the Knicks, while James and Wade are slated to hit free agency this summer. Paul can opt out of his deal with the Clippers to become a free agent in 2017.
