Report: Raptors refuse to acknowledge Kobe's 81-point game in tribute video

The Toronto Raptors would rather forget that Kobe Bryant ever scored 81 points - the second-highest scoring night in league history - against them back in 2006.

Perhaps that's why the franchise refused to acknowledge the historic outing when they paid tribute to the 17-time All-Star on Monday evening.

Higher-ups in the organization ruled against showing any footage from that night in Toronto's video tribute to Bryant, according to the Los Angeles Daily News' Mark Medina.

With Bryant's unofficial farewell tour now in full swing following his retirement announcement on the Player's Tribune, opposing arenas around the league have begun showing their respect to the 37-year-old during his recent road appearances.

Bryant has elected against receiving any on-court presentations, so the Raptors - just like the Atlanta Hawks did on Friday - decided to go the video route when the Los Angeles Lakers came to town on Monday. Toronto's video showed moments from throughout his career, but was sans any footage of the 81-point game.

Bryant drilled 28 of his 46 shot attempts that game, including seven 3-pointers, and 18 free throws in 41 minutes of action.

Raptors fans don't seem to hold any long-term grudge against the five-time NBA champion for what he pulled off against their beloved team that fateful night.

During his final career appearance north of the border against Toronto, Bryant supporters were loud in their desire to see the Lakers legend on the floor as much as possible, chanting "We want Kobe" at the top of their lungs in the opening half:
