The Cleveland Cavaliers made official their signing of power forward Tristan Thompson on Thursday.

Per terms of team policy, details of Thompson's contract weren't released, but the 24-year-old reportedly signed for $82 million over the next five seasons.

Thursday's signing ends a distended holdout that lasted well into preseason. Thompson's camp was reportedly seeking the full five-year, $94-million max, while the Cavaliers held firm to an offer of $80 million over five seasons.

LeBron James, who shares the same agent as Thompson, called the deal a distraction at the start of training camp and urged for both sides to work something out.

In signing Thompson, the Cavaliers' offseason spending spree has ballooned to $290 million. Unsurprisingly, the team will face a luxury tax bill of between $60 million to $65 million for the upcoming season.

Gargantuan salary figures aside, Thompson's signing gives the Cavaliers their full complement of players from last season's playoff run. From James down to Matthew Dellavedova - Cleveland managed to sign all of its key free agents.

Despite the significant pay bump, Thompson will likely continue to come off the bench behind starter Kevin Love, who signed for $110 million to stay in Cleveland. The two rank, respectively, as the sixth- and second-highest paid power forwards this season.

Thompson averaged 8.5 points and eight rebounds per game last season. He bumped those averages to 9.6 points and 10.8 rebounds with 1.2 blocks when he filled in for an injured Love during last season's playoff push.
