VIDEO: 14th anniversary of Iverson's famous step over Tyronn Lue
Allen Iverson was the engine of the Philadelphia 76ers team that reached the 2001 NBA Finals against the heavily favored Los Angeles Lakers.
Due to some quickness, similar size, and little else outside of cornrows, there was a thought going in that backup guard Tyronn Lue was the Laker best suited to check Iverson.
It was against that chatter that Iverson exaggerated his famous step over Lue after crossing him up and hitting a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter of Game 1 of the Finals, 14 years ago Saturday. Iverson finished the contest with 48 points as the Sixers shocked the Lakers with a win in L.A.
The Lakers won the next four games, claiming their second consecutive NBA title in Philadelphia. Fourteen years later, both Iverson and Lue are still in the news. Iverson is denying unflattering claims about his past revealed in a new book, and Lue is an assistant coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
