With Blake Griffin on the shelf and a road game against the Dallas Mavericks on tap, the Los Angeles Clippers are in real danger of losing a fifth consecutive game for the first time since Chris Paul joined the franchise in 2011.
Seeking reinforcements, the Clippers are reportedly discussing a deal with free-agent point guard Sebastian Telfair, according to RealGM's Shams Charania.
The move would be a puzzling one, both because the Clippers seem to have a greater need in the frontcourt at present, and because they bought out their previous backup point guard - the perfectly capable Jordan Farmar - less than a month ago.
Telfair was scooped up by the Oklahoma City Thunder - then dealing with their own injury woes - for a 16-game stint earlier this season, averaging 8.4 points and 2.8 assists in 20.4 minutes. He also shot 36.8 percent from the floor (he's a 39 percent career shooter), and played some pylon-esque defense.
After the Thunder cut Telfair in November, he signed with Xinjiang of the Chinese Basketball Association, where the season is now over.
