The Brooklyn Nets got a sliver of optimism regarding injured point guard Deron Williams on Tuesday, when it was revealed that he would travel with the team for their West Coast road trip.

Unfortunately, that doesn't mean he'll be returning to action at any point during the trip. The Nets announced Wednesday that Williams - out since Jan. 7 with a rib fracture - will remain sidelined for the team's next three games at least. Presumably, he'll continue to be evaluated on a week-to-week basis.

According to the team's official medical update, Williams has begun on-court non-contact work, but is still experiencing pain. He will continue to increase his activity as he makes progress in his recovery.

The Nets are 1-6 in the seven games Williams has missed with the injury, including the game in which he got injured, when he left after just four minutes. Overall, they're 4.3 points per 100 possessions better with him on the floor.

The Nets visit the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, and after that will continue their road trip with clashes against the Los Angeles Clippers and Utah Jazz. They'll return home to take on the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday.
