More than any other group of athletes over the past year, NBA players have made it known - usually through pregame attire - that they're engaged with the world around them.
Portland Trail Blazers small forward Nicolas Batum, a native of France, wore a "Je suis Charlie" T-shirt during pregame warmups before the Blazers faced the Miami Heat on Thursday.
The slogan, which translates to "I am Charlie," is a nod to the victims of Wednesday's mass murder of 12 people following an attack on the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.
