Report: Ibaka will not be fined or suspended for groin punch on Griffin

According to Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Serge Ibaka will escape unscathed after making contact with the groin of Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin in their Game 4 showdown on Sunday.

The play, which you can see below, makes it difficult to discern intent. Ibaka's arm swing connects squarely, but he was also pushed some by teammate Kendrick Perkins, and it's hard to fathom a reason Ibaka would do such a thing intentionally, with the game and series so close.

For what it's worth, Ibaka has claimed the contact was an accident:

No punch thrown. I was in traffic and one of my teammates pushed me from the back. Then I tried to fall and [Griffin] was already up. It was nothing like that.

In any case, the Thunder will have their top option to check Griffin in the lineup on Tuesday for Game 5, and it's sure to be a heated battle - not only was their the groin incident Sunday, but Ibaka also bloodied Griffin earlier in the series without punishment.
