Anthony Davis and the Washington Wizards won't have any meaningful talks about a potential contract extension until after the 2026-27 season begins, sources told The Athletic's Josh Robbins.
Davis is eligible to sign an extension as of Thursday and has two years remaining on his current deal, including a $62.8-million player option for 2027-28.
The Wizards can offer the 10-time All-Star up to $275 million over four years, Robbins added. Washington already inked Trae Young to a four-year, $212-million contract after he declined his $49-million player option for the 2026-27 campaign.
Washington acquired Davis from the Dallas Mavericks in a nine-player, three-team trade last February. The 6-foot-10 big man has yet to make an appearance for his new club after suffering ligament damage in his left hand during a matchup against the Utah Jazz in January.
Davis has made 70-plus appearances just once over the previous 10 campaigns due to various injuries. He averaged 20.4 points, 11.1 boards, 2.8 assists, 1.7 blocks, and 1.1 steals over 20 games last season.
Washington finished a league-worst 17-65 last season but landed BYU standout AJ Dybantsa with the No. 1 overall pick this summer.
