The Washington Wizards are shutting down rookie AJ Dybantsa for the rest of their Summer League games, coach T.J. Sorrentine told The Athletic's Josh Robbins on Tuesday.

The Wizards are also holding out second-year wings Will Riley and Tre Johnson for the remainder of Summer League competition.

Dybantsa, the first overall pick of the draft, was impressive in his two appearances in a Wizards uniform. He scored 27 points and hauled in seven rebounds in his Summer League debut against the Utah Jazz. He followed that up with a 23-point outing versus the Sacramento Kings.

Washington is confident that Dybantsa doesn't have much else to prove following the Las Vegas exhibitions.

"It's a culmination of camp all the way through the games," Sorrentine said. "It's not just what (everyone's) seen on TV. We've had a good camp, a lot of good practices and shootarounds, and a couple of good games."

Dybantsa emerged as one of the top prospects in the nation last season during his lone season at BYU. He led Division I in scoring, averaging 25.5 points per contest.

The rookie sensation will now turn his focus to the 2026-27 regular season. Dybantsa is expected to a key piece among a reshaped Wizards roster that features veterans Trae Young and Anthony Davis as well as other young talents.
