The Houston Rockets and wing Amen Thompson have agreed on a five-year, $208-million rookie-scale extension, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
The agreement includes a 10% trade kicker, Charania adds. He would receive the bonus in the event that Houston moves him elsewhere.
The Overtime Elite product was eligible to receive a $251-million rookie supermax contract that could have reached $287 million if he earned All-NBA or All-Defensive team nods, MVP, or Defensive Player of the Year.
Thompson captured All-Defensive first-team honors for the 2024-25 campaign.
Last season, Thompson averaged career-highs in points (18.3), rebounds (7.8), and assists (5.3) while also leading the league in minutes played with 2,953.
The 23-year-old has emerged as a reliable two-way cornerstone of Houston's budding core alongside Alperen Sengun, Jabari Smith Jr., Reed Sheppard, and Tari Eason.
Thompson is entering his fourth season with the Rockets after being selected fourth overall in the 2023 NBA Draft. His twin brother, Ausar, was taken by the Detroit Pistons with the next pick.
He's the second player from his draft class to ink a rookie-scale extension this summer after Victor Wembanyama agreed to a five-year, $252-million extension in July.
